Spectacular Online Magic Shows for Your Children
The day the Covid-19 stay at home order was initiated, Dune Johnson (aka Looney Dooney) knew that there was going to be a huge problem for children who were celebrating birthdays in isolation. Dune pictured thousands of children missing their their friends, their loved ones, and their celebrations on that special day. Birthdays could become very sad occasions, instead of happy ones.
The day after the lock down, Dune started working to bring joy, laughter, and togetherness, to families through his live online magic shows. Today, he is delivering his own brand of love, wonder, and merriment to children and adults worldwide, via Zoom.
Now:
- Parents have a way to bring the feeling of a real celebration to their children
- Kids can have fun with their friends and family via Zoom
- Friends and relatives from out of town can also attend (for the first time ever)
- Adults can also celebrate their birthday with friends and family
Dune is a full-time family entertainer, and yes…that is a real job. He was one of the Ronald McDonald’s of the world for over 20 years, and the day the lock down occurred, his business lost all of the bookings that were scheduled through Easter (84 gigs). “I was completely shocked,” said Dune, “like everyone else, I was immediately out of work, but I’ve been in business for 43 years, and never in my wildest dreams could I imagine every single client cancelling in one day.”
- Thousands of families were missing out on moments of joy, togetherness, & celebration
- Birthdays were going to be the hardest for children in lock down
- This isolation was going to last a lot longer than any of us want it to
The Thursday after the lock down, Dune started working on building his first online magic show. He also reached out to the three families who had been planning birthday parties that very first Saturday, and he offered them a free show…just to help those children have some kind of celebration. According to Dune, “I never realized how powerful these shows were going to turn out to be.”
- “The most heartwarming thing about those first shows was the time before and after the show, when the families were just hanging out together.” – Dune
- “It was the first time I’d ever been able to attend my great-granddaughter’s birthday party”
- “That guy is astounding.”
- “Dooney sure knows how to handle Zoom. I’ve been using Zoom for work for years, but this was the best use of the platform that I’ve ever seen.”

As of now, Looney Dooney is performing magic shows for kids (and game shows for adults), basically every other day. He recently broke the international barrier with a grouping of shows in the United Kingdom and Australia, and has performed in over 150 cities in the United States—not bad for the first two months of building an absolutely new industry.
There are many other people, not just children with birthdays, who are suffering due to this isolation, so Dune has reached out to families who are suffering the most. Some of the clients he has done show for include:
- Special needs adults in group homes
- A group of foster care families all across Oklahoma
- Children whose parents lost their income due to the stay-at-home order.
- One boy in England whose father died due to Covid-19, and the party was 2 days after the funeral
- Hundreds of nursing home clients who are completely isolated & sequestered alone in their rooms
“I deliver joy, laughter, and togetherness through these online shows, and I think those experiences are tremendously important, especially right now.” – Dune Johnson (aka Looney Dooney)
